Scientist Hunt review

Pros:

One of the most relished guilty pleasures in Half-Life was quick saving for just a second so you could take a time out and blast a scientist right in the face with a shotgun. But then you immediately quick load and play "normally" again. With this mod, you can join a team in multiplayer and hunt down scientists all you want. The maps are not flashy, but playable and nice, some with extra features. There are also many adjustable settings, such as "gore factor" so you can have scientists explode in absurdly giant blasts of blood when shooting them, which is always funny to see. In some of the maps, there's a certain number of scientists around, and you have to literally hunt around the maps finding and killing them. They'll run away screaming constantly too, which certainly makes it more fun, since it actually adds to the hunting theme. The team who gets the most scientists wins the round, and then everything respawns again for the next round. Plus bots are put into the mod to replace other multiplayer players.

Cons:

Good luck finding a server that will actually run this. You'll probably find two, and one of them will be running on a DSL or something. And fast server or no, you'll probably only have a couple people actually in those servers. Plus having a large number of scientists running around can create some lag. Sometimes the bots will shoot to kill as soon as you can even see a glimpse of them. There's really not enough to complain about this mod other than the fact that it's not extremely involving--which can be great sometimes, but when you want to run into a server and kill some scis with some friends, it'll probably have to be at a LAN party. Still, you probably have to be in the mood for this mod in order to play it.

Overall:

Creative and fun, if you feel like running around blasting some scis. The catch is that you'll probably have to do it by yourself, and add bots if you want teams.
