Project: Megan
The Megan Project is better than Stile Project
When it comes to social groups on the internet, they're mostly divided off into large groups of people with similar interests. Mainly, newsgroups are places for bringing those with similar interests and tastes together. However, since this is the internet, and only those with either patience and the want to discover and learn about computers, or those who are complete social rejects (I was both) would be on the internet in the first place, you'll mainly end up with a large group of total losers, with a tiny handful of intelligent people in any of these groups (sometimes there will be NO intelligent people in the groups, unless they are there to openly insult everyone).
For safety's sake, I should point out that there are at least a couple other reasons a person would be on the internet: job-related or internet business people. But those people would want nothing with people in newsgroups. The main purpose of a newsgroup is to spread opinions, not facts or ideas. If you wanted facts, you would go to a web site. Not a personal web site, though, those contain as much fact as newsgroups. Besides, these people are not what this project is about.
This project is an exploration of one certain newsgroup who's elitist and paranoid attitudes can only mean one thing: big fucking losers with no life or soul (soul in this context means "emotional and intellectual core").
What I did was create a fake identity and personality (that of a moron, of course, since that's much easier and more fun to see how many friends you can make as a moron instead of as an intellectual) and see how well I would be accepted into a newsgroup I once frequented and was well known in. Then I'd see how far I could get with knowing people, except instead of my actual sex, male, I would go in as the opposite of a male. I am sure you know what the opposite of a male carbon unit is. Unless of course, you're from the newsgroup.
The results were very disappointing, to me. Disappointing because I strained to keep up the lie, and pretend that I was actually interested in talking to these people, among faking interest in other things involving them. But at the same time, I was joyed, because I got all sorts of hilarious shit on these people now, and I tapped into a few's deep dark, and stupid, secrets. It helps that I've had personal things against these people ahead of time. It helps even more right now in the aftermath that these people had something against me too, since I basically called this tightly-knit group of losers what they are. They can admit to themselves and everyone else that they are losers, but when someone else agrees that they are indeed losers, and actually prove why, they get mad. So basically a giant group of hypocritical self-depreciating depressive suicidal barely-humans.
The Megan Project lasted about a month, from the first day of creation where people were paranoid about me and accepting at the same time, to the last night where I finally got way too tired of having to deal with these people. This is the story of Megan Entwistle.
Project Megan
Forward: a short history of my past with the newsgroup, and bits and pieces of my planned goal.
Megan Entwistle: setting up the character, and telling her apart from the other TWO Megans (both previously featured on this site).
Day One: my first post to alt.games.final-fantasy.
First Chats: I kick off the beginning of making myself familiar by chatting with some of the people.
Enough Emotes to Choke a Whale: some of the chat logs from the alt.games.final-fantasy regs (a.k.a. FFAGs) who use so many emotes it's enough to make you puke, cry, and laugh at the same time. These are some of the good early logs, just to show you how annoying and idiotic these people really are.
FFAGs Thoughts on the Real Me: I've surprisingly had quite a few people end up talking about ME, "Neptune Salad," and how much they hate me. Which makes me paranoid that they're catching on, and proud of how well I'm using the name at the same time.
Things You Should Never Tell Anyone: if you have friends, try not to make them look like complete idiots to someone you barely know. This page contains quotes from some of the chat logs about the stupid things they or their friends have done.
Just Shut Up Loser: FFAGs complaining about how they can't get a girl. And how I wanted to just walk away from my computer while they did.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm: the most difficult yet most rewarding part, crossing the boundries from "online friend" to "target of misguided and unnecessary affections." It was by subjecting myself to big sweaty thrusting cocks in my tight drooling cunt that I was able to get some of these people to really open up, and stir up trouble with others.
Megan's Anger: I decide to give my character's idiocy a little depth and have her become enraged with someone on the newsgroup, in one of my proudest moments of Megan's newsgroup contribution.
How FFAGs Bored Me Out of My Character: the day that I could finally take no more whining, and called it quits.
Afterward: comments from friends after I decided to hang up the Megan "chuchu" Entwistle identity.
AOL Instant Messanger is the program I used for all the chat conversations. I'm pretty sure that they would be proud to have me linking to them here. Ha.
